Appropriation and branding of bodies of knowledge claims and practices as a trademark of one community. "A label or mark in scientific discourse (e.g. โMaxwellโs equationsโ) becomes an epistemic trademark (e.g. โMaxwellian electromagnetic theoryโ) when it ends up concealing the complex historical lineages and blurring the epistemic contributions of various communities." (Massimi, 2022, p. 356)
